The Minke Whales are a Bristol five-piece formed in 2009 by Edinburgh singer songwriter Stuart Reid (formerly of Shifty Disco Record's band, Seagull Strange) and bassist Neil Hughes when they discovered their collective love of recording music in allotment potting sheds.Tales of revenge, lost love and witch hunts wrapped up in sweet melodies that blend twisted folk with Reid's grizzled Scottish vocal gruff, an English nightingale and banjo laden stomping to give them a dark and brooding intoxication.
The Minke Whales released their 4 track EP ’The Women of The Barrows’
"...blessed with weight, depth and sublime melodies... quite wonderful stuff." (247 Magazine)
"Ragged, literate, highly musical folk for raising barns to - and then raising the roofs of said barns... Reliable, festival-flavoured knees-uppage." (The Venue Magazine)
“… virtually dripping with emotion… Reid seems to be living every syllable” (Fresh on the Net)
The Mantic Muddlers combine a rich influence of sonic stylings and serve up their stories on a foundation of infectious grooves and raucous melodies... For lack of a legitimate genre, you'll be hearing Roots, Rattle & Roll!
