Oh that’s fantastically gorgeous, isn’t it? Bit Bon Iver for sure, but absolutely wonderful.”
Mark Radcliffe, BBC 6 Music

“They sound festival-sized, delivering uplifting anthems that would fit as comfortably on the radio as around the campfire.”
Q Magazine

“They’ll be pillaging (in a good way) our playlists and camping out on our computers for the foreseeable future.”
Earmilk

Firewoodisland are Stian Vedøy, Abi Eleri Vedøy, Stephen Allen and Dylan Jones.

In 2010, Norwegian singer, songwriter and producer Stian Vedøy moved to Cardiff, UK. He started a solo project called Firewoodisland (which is ‘Vedøy’ translated into English), while studying for a masters in music production. A coming together of fellow like-minded musicians, followed by a regional win in Norway’s Bandwagon Battle of the Bands in 2013 saw a solo project become a full band. A debut EP, called ILD, quickly followed in early 2014.

Now Bristol-based, the band have seen their music reach an ever-increasing audience since the release of ILD and their recent follow-up EP Dome. They’ve come to the attention of Q Magazine, Clash, The 405 and Earmilk (amongst others) and have twice won Amazing Radio’s Audition. They’ve also featured as Artist of the Week on BBC Radio Wales, have had support from Spotify, BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, WFUV (New York), BBC Introducing West and have twice made the Top 40 on Norway’s Radio 102.

As impressive on-stage as on record, Firewoodisland have also been busy sharpening their live chops, having headlined the Richer Unsigned showcase for Q Magazine, as well as playing venues such as London’s Hoxton Bar and Kitchen, The Garage and Servant Jazz Quarters, as well as The Fleece and The Louisiana in Bristol, Moles in Bath, the BBC Introducing Stage at Latitude Festival UK 2016 and latest supporting Bear’s Den at St. Giles Church, London on Record Store Day 17 via Richer Unsigned.
